B&D Elects Four New Principals

We congratulate four associates who we recently elected as Principals of the firm: Alexander Horning (Washington, DC), Jessalee Landfried (Washington, DC), Megan Morgan (Baltimore), and Kaitlyn Shannon (San Francisco).

Alex Horning (Washington, DC) helps clients navigate regulatory, compliance, and litigation matters involving: product stewardship; reverse logistics; hazardous, medical, and solid waste; and issues arising under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act, Endangered Species Act, and National Environmental Policy Act. Alex also works with clients in the pharmaceutical and medical device, pesticides, and energy industries, and counsels nationwide coalitions addressing industry challenges. “Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch” 2021, a Best Lawyers Publication, recognized him in Environmental Law.

Jessalee Landfried (Washington, DC) counsels clients in the energy, tech, and automotive sectors on a variety of programs and compliance issues arising under the Clean Air Act, RCRA, and the Clean Water Act. She represents clients in litigation arising under federal and state environmental statutes, often in class action suits. She also maintains an active pro bono practice that includes advocacy for cyclists and pedestrians. “Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch” 2021, a Best Lawyers Publication, recognized her in Environmental Law. She practices in Washington, DC and Durham, NC and earned recognition as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in Washington, DC.

Megan Morgan (Baltimore) represents clients nationwide in commercial litigation and litigation arising under a variety of environmental statutes. She has been an active trial team member on critical cases in industries including waste management, heavy industry, transportation, and oil and gas. Her experience includes defending citizen suits and enforcement proceedings, and representing clients on commercial contract disputes. Megan also counsels clients on corporate sustainability and ESG issues, including human rights, responsible sourcing, supply chain management, and climate change policies. Megan currently serves as the Deputy Chair of the firm’s Women’s Initiative, and is the Co-Chair of the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL) affinity group NAWLMoms. In addition, she serves as the Board President for The Good Acre, a non-profit food hub located in Minnesota.

Kaitlyn Shannon (San Francisco) focuses on environmental litigation. She represents clients in federal and California court, and has argued appeals in California appellate courts and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She has experience with the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), including defending against natural resource damages claims. She helps clients navigate the interaction between federal and California state-law claims, including California’s Superfund program, California’s Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and common law claims, such as nuisance. She serves as a deputy leader of the firm’s Litigation practice group. Kaitlyn has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers for three years in a row.
