The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) finalized the long-awaited climate disclosure rules. The final rules require disclosure of any climate-related risks that have materially impacted or are reasonably likely to have a material impact on the registrant, including on its business strategy, results of operations, or financial condition. Despite potential challenges to the rule from a variety of stakeholders, it is important for registrants to understand and prepare for the new requirements. Leaders of B&D's ESG and Climate Change practices will lead a briefing outlining the content of the new final rules, changes from the initial proposed rules, what business risks may arise, and best practices for companies to prepare for these new requirements.
