Eric Christensen to Speak on Rural Clean Energy Development at NEBC Bioenergy Summit
Principal Eric Christensen (Seattle) will speak on a panel, "Rural Clean Energy Development," during the Northwest Bioenergy Summit, on October 16. The summit is presented by the Northwest Environmental Business Council (NEBC), in partnership with the Washington Department of Ecology. B&D is a member and sponsor of NEBC, which advocates for science-based regulation, supportive policies and tax structures, the dissemination of knowledge, and the adoption of best practices.
Aaron Peterson (Ag & Rural Energy Policy Specialist, Washington State Department of Commerce) and Luke Rogers (Senior Research Scientist & Engineer, University of Washington) will join Eric on the panel. The speakers will examine state efforts to support utility-scale wind and solar energy, and how those same methods may inform smaller bioenergy projects in rural Northwest communities. The panel will discuss facilitated siting, coordinated permitting, and economic development assistance.
