B&D Honored in the Diversity & Flexibility Alliance's “Tipping The Scales” List
The Diversity & Flexibility Alliance (the Alliance) has released the results of its 2024 New Partner Report, a compilation of public data related to the gender breakdown of attorneys promoted to partner at law firms. Based on this report, the Alliance named B&D to its 2024 “Tipping the Scales” list, which recognizes firms with 50% or more women in their 2024 new partner class. 82 firms received this recognition.
The Alliance’s New Partner Report is a yearly compilation of data from the nation’s largest and top-grossing law firms examining the gender breakdown of lawyers promoted to partner. The data is based upon publicly available firm announcements and other self-reported sources on new partner classes elected between October 1, 2023, and September 30, 2024.
At B&D, 50% of the lawyers on the firm’s management committee are women or minorities. Our Austin, San Francisco, Seattle, and Baltimore Office Managing Principals are women, as are our General Counsel, Chair, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, and Chief Talent Officer. Overall, women and minorities comprise 44% of our lawyers.
DE&I are core values and business imperatives at B&D. The firm holds Mansfield Rule 7.0 Plus certification, indicating that our firm considers women, LGBTQ+, minorities, and lawyers with disabilities for at least 30% of all significant leadership roles, lateral recruiting, and business development opportunities. The “Plus” status signifies that B&D voluntarily provided data to the Diversity Lab to show our progress and outcomes of our efforts to broaden talent pools and increase the visibility of our advancement processes. In 2022 and 2023, MCCA awarded B&D its George B. Vashon Innovator Award recipient, given to a law firm with fewer than 500 attorneys that “led the way with innovative best practices to assist diverse attorneys.”
