Jeff's practice focuses on regulatory compliance, particularly for products. Prior to joining B&D, Jeff was the Acquisition Project Manager at the Marin Agricultural Land Trust. In this role, he drafted, negotiated, and closed agricultural conservation easements with landowners, managed state and federal grant applications, and participated in public comments on relevant state and federal legislation. Before that, he was an associate in the Real Estate practice of an AmLaw 100 law firm.
Mary joined B&D in 2021 as a law clerk after having served as a law clerk with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in the Environment & National Resources Division (ENRD), Environmental Enforcement Section, and at the Environmental Law Institute and the Conservation Litigation Project. Mary focuses her practice on the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and the Clean Air Act (CAA) regulatory compliance and litigation.
John offers courtroom experience as a member of the firm’s CERCLA practice. Before joining B&D, John gained experience defending first- and third-party disputes from inception through trial, including first-chair experience in arbitration, arguing critical motions in court, advising clients on regulatory issues, evaluating potential claims, conducting depositions, preparing expert witnesses, drafting pleadings and motions, and managing discovery. He served as a Special Assistant Attorney General for an environmental tort case, Madsen v. State of Washington, Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife, involving alleged marine contamination. He also has experience with plaintiff-side litigation.
Julia focuses her practice on environmental litigation, permitting, and regulatory advice. Her experience includes matters involving the Clean Water Act (CWA), the Safe Drinking Water Act, natural gas infrastructure, and environmental justice. Prior to joining B&D, Julia was an associate at a law firm where she assisted public clients with environmental permitting and compliance, water quality issues, and litigation. She was also a post-graduate legal fellow at the Natural Resources Defense Council. In law school, Julia interned for the U.S. Department of Justice, Environment and Natural Resources Division, Natural Resources Section; the Natural Resources Defense Council; and the Honorable Allison D. Burroughs of the U.S. District Court, District of Massachusetts.
Lauren joined B&D after serving as Counsel in the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, Office of General Counsel in Boston where she provided legal support to the Bureau of Air and Waste, primarily working on air and climate regulations. Her practice focuses on air and climate change, project development, and CERCLA litigation. In law school, Lauren was a law clerk for the U.S. Department of Justice in the Environment and National Resources Division, Environmental Enforcement Section Boston field office, where she assisted with enforcement cases arising under CERCLA and RCRA.
Liz’s practice focuses on regulatory compliance. She assists clients in navigating the evolving regulatory landscape surrounding product regulation, supply chain due diligence, and environmental, social, and governance issues. Prior to joining B&D, Liz practiced as an associate in the San Francisco office of an AmLaw 100 law firm. There she worked on the development of a novel environmental regulatory regime, commercial arbitration and litigation, challenges to federal agency programs, and antitrust investigation defense. Liz maintains a robust pro bono practice representing asylum seekers and special immigrant juveniles throughout California.
Raven joined B&D in 2021 as a law clerk after spending two consecutive summers at the firm as a summer associate. During law school, Raven interned for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance, where she gained valuable experience with CERCLA. She also has experience with CAA, CWA, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). Raven focuses her practice on site remediation, air and climate change, water, sustainability, and environmental justice and maintains an active pro bono practice focused on juvenile immigrant asylum.
Andrew joined B&D after serving as an Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Law Division of the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office. Within that role, Andrew litigated a range of federal and state constitutional issues including the Civil Rights Act, Health Care Liability Act, Tennessee tort reform statutes, and the Tennessee Public Participation Act. Prior to that, he was an associate at a regional law firm in Tennessee. Andrew offers clients strategic counsel on high-stakes matters such as environmental litigation and governmental tort liability across industrial sectors.
