Paul Hagen Elected Vice-Chair of The Conservation Fund
The Conservation Fund (The Fund) board of directors has elected Principal Paul Hagen (Washington, DC) as its Vice-Chair. The Fund is one of the nation’s leading non-profit conservation organizations, and is dedicated to protecting America’s most critical lands and waters, providing greater access to nature, strengthening local economies, and enhancing climate resiliency. As the nation’s leader in buying land for conservation, The Fund works in all 50 states and has protected more than 8.7 million acres of land since 1985.
“The team at the Conservation Fund works creatively to preserve important landscapes, nationally significant markers of our history, and working forests critical to our future,” noted Paul who first joined the Board in 2011. “I look forward to helping the Fund advance this important work in collaboration with local communities and partners.”
The Fund performs a vital role by helping its partners (typically public agencies) successfully acquire critical properties – by providing capital and often transaction support. Today, these lands are national and state parks, recreation and wildlife areas, national monuments, and working landscapes. The Fund uses its innovative Revolving Fund, working capital, proceeds from its green bonds and other debt, and third-party conservation capital to fund its acquisition and interim management of properties.
The Conservation Fund regularly partners with leading companies to advance its mission and address shared goals related to land conservation, building resilient communities, and protecting working forests. More information about the work of the Fund can be found here.
