The Legal 500 Names B&D a Top Tier Environmental Regulatory and Litigation Firm for 2024

The Legal 500 ranked Beveridge & Diamond as a top tier firm in the environmental regulatory law category for the tenth consecutive year, a top tier firm in climate change litigation for the second year, and a leading firm in environmental litigation for the fifteenth consecutive year in its 2024 United States edition.

The editorial references B&D’s successful litigation practice navigating high-stakes environmental and natural resources claims as well as civil and criminal enforcement mandates. With regard to B&D’s top-tier regulatory practice, the editorial highlights B&D’s cutting-edge contamination, ESG, circular economy, plastic waste, sustainability and environmental justice work along with our water and compliance practices.

The editorial also features some of B&D’s work over the past year to include:

  • Serving as outside counsel to a major airline with respect to its compliance with federal and state environmental issues nationwide.
  • Defending a major waste services company and certain subsidiaries in four putative class action lawsuits and 11 mass tort actions filed on behalf of 800 individual plaintiffs.
  • Serving as project counsel to a chemical company on a variety of environmental and related permitting matters in its construction of an $8.5 billion facility in Texas,
  • Defending two ethylene oxide (EtO) manufacturers in two separate, high-profile, and closely watched toxic tort actions related to exposure from emissions from EtO manufacturing plants located in so-called “Cancer Alley” Louisiana.

While The Legal 500 does not rank lawyers and focuses on assessing the overall strength and depth of practice groups, it named John Cruden (Principal, Washington, DC) to its Hall of Fame for both environmental litigation and environmental regulatory law. It also listed Principals Paul Hagen (Washington, DC) and Karen Hansen (Austin) as Leading Lawyers for environmental regulatory law. The publication also listed Principals Megan Brillault (New York) and Bina Reddy (Austin) as Next Generation Partners for environmental litigation. Associate Katrina Krebs (New York) also received a Rising Star recognition for environmental litigation.

In total, The Legal 500’s editorials recognized 22 B&D attorneys:
