Vault

In its 2024 survey of over 22,000 law firm associates, Vault named Beveridge & Diamond the #1 Law Firm for Environmental Law for the seventh year in a row. Among midsize firms (150 or fewer lawyers), in its quality of life rankings, Vault also named B&D #2 for pro bono, #14 for diversity, #15 for selectivity, and #24 in formal training. In addition, Vault recognized B&D among its top 20 firms for Energy, Oil, and Gas Law.

Vault is a publication that provides rankings, ratings, and reviews on employers and internship programs. Vault sends its associate survey to more than 22,000 associates from more than 200 participating law firms. In addition to practice area rankings, the Vault Associate Survey asks questions on categories such as: (1) firm culture, (2) associate/partner relations, (3) career outlook, (4) quality of work, and (5) overall satisfaction, to determine firms’ quality of life rankings.

“We are pleased that associates at B&D and throughout the legal profession have again noted our position of leadership in environmental law, as well as our commitments to DE&I and pro bono work,” said Paula Schauwecker, Chief Talent Officer. “B&D Associates have access to the most sophisticated environmental regulatory and litigation matters in a practice model and culture that enables their growth and development as professionals and people."

B&D values diversity, equity, and inclusion and strives to demonstrate leadership in these areas. We are Mansfield 5.0 Plus Certified by the Diversity Lab, having participated in the Mansfield Rule since the Mansfield 2.0 pilot. The certification indicates that the firm considers diverse lawyers for at least 30% of all significant leadership roles, lateral recruiting, and business development opportunities. The “Plus” status signifies that B&D exceeds the baseline certification requirements – not only considering but achieving 30% representation in firm leadership roles. In 2021 and 2022, the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity recognized B&D as a Top Performer and a Compass Award winner. Working together with our clients, we develop, maintain, and participate in a variety of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives involving lawyers and staff firmwide. In 2022, the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) awarded B&D its George B. Vashon Innovator Award recipient, given to a law firm with fewer than 500 attorneys that “led the way with innovative best practices to assist diverse attorneys.” In 2023, MCCA recognized B&D with a Bronze Seal accreditation, recognizing the tangible results the B&D has in advancing DE&I through hiring, retaining, and promoting diverse attorneys.
