Katelyn E. Ciolino
Katelyn defends waste and recycling companies, manufacturers, and trade associations in state and federal environmental, class and mass action, and toxic tort litigation. Her trial and appellate practice includes successfully defending removal to federal court, securing early dismissal of three putative class actions alleging nuisance and negligence claims, efficiently handling large-scale e-discovery, and marshalling complex factual and expert evidence to mount a strong defense. Katelyn also represents clients in complex CERCLA matters, including large-scale allocation and contaminated site litigation.
Jacob P. Duginski
Jake handles complex litigation before California’s trial and appellate courts, and advises on California-specific regulatory compliance issues. He also represents clients in various administrative enforcement settings with a focus on California’s air districts. His approach to client service focuses on providing sound, timely, actionable advice with sensitivity to each client’s business needs.
Collin S. Gannon
Collin maintains a national practice concentrated on complex environmental and toxic tort litigation. While Collin focuses primarily on environmental litigation, he also applies his litigation background to resolve associated regulatory issues, advise on transactions involving environmental matters, and recover insurance proceeds or recoveries on behalf of policyholders facing critical loss exposure.
Erika H. Spanton
Erika maintains a robust mixed practice of litigation, regulatory, and white collar defense work focused on water quality matters. She has first-chaired numerous arbitrations and trials and supported large, complex trial teams. Recent successes include negotiating early, favorable resolution of citizen suit actions alleging Clean Water Act violations in California and Washington. Erika has deep regulatory expertise with federal and state stormwater, wastewater, spill prevention, and countermeasure requirements. She is a deputy leader of B&D’s Water practice and co-founder and deputy leader of B&D’s Fisheries & Aquaculture industry group.
