B&D Principal Susan Smith (San Francisco) and Associate Jose Almanzar (New York) will join an American Society of Civil Engineers panel discussion, "An Asset Management Approach to Municipal Water Infrastructure- Case Study and Lessons Learned". This panel will focus on the details of applying an asset management approach to municipal water infrastructure. Panelists will analyze a case study from the City of San Diego, where the principles of asset management were applied to stormwater infrastructure for the first time in the US. Panelists will also discuss the benefits of and challenges to implementing asset management and share perspectives on the economic and legal risks of managing assets reactively in contrast to adaptive management.
