B&D Elects Five New Principals
Brook Detterman (Boston) helps his clients to navigate domestic and international climate change programs, develop renewable energy projects, and generate carbon offsets. He helps his clients to negotiate, structure, and implement transactions related to carbon offsets and renewable energy, and works with clients during all phases of renewable energy and carbon offset project development. Brook also represents clients during complex environmental litigation, having served as litigation and appellate counsel during dozens of proceedings in state and federal courts across the country. Roy Prather (Baltimore) represents companies and public sector entities in complex environmental and commercial litigation. His experience includes defending citizen suits and class actions involving toxic tort and product liability claims under federal environmental laws and state analogues, advising clients on issues relating to environmental regulatory compliance, and representing clients in indemnity and other commercial contract disputes relating to construction and contaminated site cleanup. Roy currently serves as Deputy Chair of the firm’s Toxic Tort and Environmental Tort Practice Group. Roy is an active member of his community. He serves on the Board of Directors for The Black BigLaw Pipeline, a non-profit comprised of senior Black attorneys established to promote positive outcomes for Black attorneys working in large law firms. Julius Redd (Washington, DC) represents clients in federal and state courts nationwide in complex commercial litigation and in matters arising under major environmental statutes. He also assists companies develop and implement management systems for environmental compliance, and advises companies regarding targeted compliance audits to manage disclosures to regulators. Julius maintains an active civic volunteer profile through his work with various professional organizations. He is a founding member of the Men of Color Project (MoCP), an organization designed to build leaders in the legal sector, facilitate intergenerational support, and encourage community service and civic engagement amongst men of color in the legal profession. Aron Schnur (Baltimore) counsels clients on regulatory compliance and defends them in enforcement proceedings related to air, waste, water, and safety issues. He has helped clients achieve significant victories in permitting actions and negotiate favorable consent decrees and settlement agreements that are aligned with business objectives. Aron works closely with in-house counsel and plant teams in industries ranging from refineries to data centers to develop efficient solutions to challenging environmental issues, and advises his clients in a forward-thinking manner that helps them anticipate regulatory changes before they happen. Drew Silton (Washington, DC) guides clients through complex regulatory issues and high stakes litigation arising under the nation's clean water laws. His practice spans regulatory counseling, enforcement defense, and litigation, and he represents clients that include municipal governments, renewable energy companies, chemicals manufacturers, and information technology firms. Drew currently serves as Co-Chair of the firm’s Water Practice Group. Drew also plays an active role in the firm's pesticide data compensation practice, and has brought multiple arbitrations to obtain compensation from competitors who have relied on clients' pesticide data to obtain registrations. He has also represented members of the pesticide industry in high profile administrative law litigation impacting the regulation and registration of pesticide products. |
